Questions About Therapy
What is therapy?
Therapy is a safe and confidential space to discuss with a trained professional any issues that are bothering you, such as emotions, relationships, stress, life changes, or mental health concerns.
Can therapy work?
Yes. Therapy is a space to grow, heal, and learn healthier ways to cope and thrive.
How often will I go to therapy?
Typically, therapy sessions are held once a week.
How long will I need to be in therapy?
It depends on your goals. Some people find a few sessions helpful; others benefit from longer-term work.
Is everything I say in therapy confidential?
Yes—therapy is confidential. There are rare exceptions (like safety concerns), but your privacy is protected and valued.
What can I expect in the first session?
Your first session is a chance to get to know your therapist, discuss your reasons for coming, and explore your goals for therapy.
Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?
No diagnosis is required.
How long does therapy take to see the finished results?
Therapy is different for everyone. It depends on how much the problem affects your daily habits. If it’s a new issue, therapy might be short—just a few months. If it’s something you’ve dealt with for a long time, it may take longer to see lasting changes.
What if I don’t know what to say?
That’s okay! It’s normal to feel unsure at first. Your therapist will help guide the conversation and create a space where you can feel comfortable opening up.
Can I stop therapy at any time?
Yes. You’re in control of your therapy journey. You can pause or stop at any time.
